An iPad or Android tablet
An old tablet makes a fine kitchen wall. iPads need iPadOS 14 or later; the first iPad Air and the iPad mini 2 and 3 stop at iOS 12 and cannot run Hestia.
- On the tablet, open hestiacalendar.com/tv in Safari or Chrome.
- Add it to the home screen. Safari: the share button (□↑) → Add to Home Screen. Chrome: ⋮ → Add to Home screen or Install app.
- Open Hestia from its new icon. It opens full screen and shows a code. On your phone, open hestiacalendar.com/link and type it. From then on the icon opens your wall.
Keep it awake
- Keep it plugged in.
- iPad: Settings → Display & Brightness → Auto-Lock → Never. iPads before iPadOS 16.4 cannot be kept awake by a web page, so this setting is the only way.
- Android: Settings → Display → Screen timeout at its longest, or in Developer options turn on Stay awake (stays on while charging).
- To stop little hands leaving the wall on an iPad, use Guided Access: Settings → Accessibility → Guided Access, then triple-click the top or home button while the wall is open.
