Chromecast and Google TV
A Chromecast is a good, cheap way to put Hestia on a TV or a spare monitor. Hestia's own cast button, which hands the wall to the Chromecast so nothing else needs to stay on, is waiting for Google's approval and does not show yet.
Today: cast a Chrome tab
- On a laptop or desktop with Chrome, on the same Wi-Fi as the Chromecast, open your wall and make sure it shows.
- Chrome menu (⋮) → Cast, save and share → Cast…, then pick the Chromecast. Under Sources, choose Cast tab.
- The TV shows the wall for as long as that tab stays open and the computer stays awake.
Google TV with a browser
A Chromecast with Google TV or another Android TV can run a web browser from its app store. Open it and follow A TV or any screen with a web browser. A Hestia TV app that keeps the screen on by itself is coming to Google Play.
