What's new
2026-10-25 Home screens, older iPads and Google Photos
- Add a screen to the home screen of an iPad, iPhone or Android tablet: it opens full screen with the Hestia icon, pairs once with a code, and goes straight to its wall from then on.
- Older iPads: the fullscreen button works on iPadOS 15, and a screen that cannot keep itself awake says where to set Auto-Lock to Never.
- A browser too old to run Hestia now says so, instead of showing a blank screen.
- Google Photos: pick photos for the wall under Settings → Photos → From Google Photos.
- Help guides at /help: TVs, Chromecast, tablets, a Raspberry Pi, Google Calendar, calendar links, iCloud albums, Google Photos and framing.
2026-10-23 First release
- Sign in with Google (or an emailed link), pick a wall address, and your wall is at /<address>.
- Photos: upload from any browser or connect an iCloud shared album; people are found automatically and photos with people are accepted on their own.
- Frame any photo from a phone: drag, pinch, zoom; the wall redraws within seconds and holds the photo while you work.
- Remove a photo from the wall with the trash button in its menu; it moves to Rejected under Settings → Photos, where you can bring it back.
- Google Calendar: read several calendars, add events by tapping a day on the wall.
- Edit mode: arrange tiles on a grid for portrait and landscape screens; clock, weather, forecast, month, agenda, to-do, meals, countdown, note, QR code.
- Palettes: a restrained default in light and dark, optional monthly pairs, or your own; dark from sunset to sunrise.
- Screens: display links, a TV pairing code, fullscreen, and a Google Cast receiver.
